Common questions about yoga & movement classes
Our group classes are in traditional Satyananda Yoga style incorporating asana (postures), mindful breathwork (pranayama), and Yoga Nidra (restorative deep relaxation). Rather than teaching a fast-paced, athletic fitness workout which is not yoga, these classes are designed to help you slow down, drop into your physical body, and soothe your nervous system. Each class is meditative, where we focus on how a posture feels from the inside out, rather than what it looks like from the outside.
Yes, absolutely. In fact, you are precisely who these classes are created for. There is a common misunderstanding that you need to be flexible to do yoga, but yoga is simply the tool we use to cultivate ease in the body and mind. Every movement is taught with clear, accessible variations, allowing you to choose the level of depth that feels safe and supportive for your body on any given day. You will never be pressured to push past your natural boundaries.
Our weekly group yoga and meditation classes take place in a beautiful, warm, and light-filled space right in the heart of Eastbourne, East Sussex. The locations are fully accessible and centrally situated, making them highly convenient for local residents as well as those travelling in from surrounding areas such as Bexhill, Westham, Polegate, and Lewes. Exact location details are provided directly upon booking.
Please wear loose, layered, and comfortable clothing that allows you to move and breathe easily (such as tracksuits, leggings, or soft t-shirts). It is also a good idea to bring a warm pair of socks and a cozy sweater for our final deep relaxation portion of the class. A selection of high-quality yoga mats, bolsters, and blankets are provided at the studio, but you are always more than welcome to bring your own personal mat if you prefer.
To preserve a peaceful, spacious atmosphere and ensure everyone receives personalised attention, spaces in our group classes are limited and must be booked in advance via our website. We offer flexible single-class drop-in options if you wish to try out a session, as well as discounted multi-class passes or term blocks for those ready to commit to a consistent, supportive weekly practice.
